About the role:
As a Senior Product Designer, your role is to meet the diverse needs of our users by making sure that they have the best experience across our products. You will work closely with engineers, product experts and the wider multidisciplinary team to craft end-to-end journeys that help customers achieve their goals — from acquiring fast and easy driveaway cover, to insuring their impounded vehicle.
You will work through design problems from start to finish, translating research, analytics and business insights into ideas that become new products and features, as well as designing detailed user journeys and the interactions needed to make them viable.
What you’ll be doing:
- Designing and ideating through sketching, creating prototypes and creating high quality mockups; and knowing how to best test and validate your designs through user research and product testing
- Analysing end to end user journeys, identifying improvement opportunities and suggesting changes
- Using your inquisitive mind to solve problems and challenges in order to develop simple and usable products. Working at a dynamic pace across multiple projects whilst ensuring high quality of your work
- Working closely within a multidisciplinary team of engineers, product managers and analysts, whilst enabling and empowering the wider team through knowledge sharing and strong documentation
- Partnering with the product manager to create our product strategy for a particular product
- Applying best practices to our style guides, design patterns and design system
- Contributing to and leading workshops with stakeholders from various functions
What the team has been up to recently:
- Reimagining the customer experience from the ground up — rebuilding Tempcover’s app and website to be faster, more intuitive, and ready for the future.
- Designing new journeys and UX foundations to better support our growing customer base across web and app.
- Making considered updates to the look, feel, and experience of our platforms to stay aligned with our vision and values.
- Exploring the future of insurance — through research, testing, and early prototyping, we’re shaping new flexible, usage-based insurance models that challenge the annual status quo.
- Tightening the feedback loop with new tools and methods to bring us closer to our customers, making sure we’re solving real problems that matter.
What we're looking for
- Strong end-to-end product design skills, with a solid grasp of user-centred design, accessibility, and the ability to design effective consumer journeys and prototypes across web and app
- A proactive mindset — someone who takes initiative, can identify opportunities beyond the immediate brief, and brings strategic thinking to shape both the product and the broader customer experience
- A deep care for understanding and solving real customer problems — confident using research, interviews, and insights to explore needs, uncover pain points, and shape thoughtful design solutions e.g. user tests, surveys and supporting A/B tests and using data to make recommendations
- Strong in Figma (or similar design system), including using and feeding into design systems, utilising features such as auto-layout and variables to facilitate rapid prototyping and design thinking
- Confident at communicating the design thinking and breadth of considerations behind your work and knowing how to engage stakeholders at all levels, in particular by designing and running workshops to facilitate knowledge extraction and collaborative ideation
- A collaborative working style, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work closely with engineers, analysts, and senior stakeholders — both in small group settings and independently
We are looking for a portfolio that demonstrates your thinking behind the ‘final’ visuals. What did you do and why did you do it? It must also demonstrate that you have worked on digital products across multi touch points and platforms.
